I gave myself a new slightly intense haircut (super short bangs) and dyed my hair dark red, which led me to be called an 80s vampire by my old pal G. If I could afford this profusion of Alexander McQueen, Marc Jacobs, and Thakoon, maybe I could also dress like an 80s vampire. Some might say I already do...

///tres mysterieuse///
not sure why, but I've always been fascinated by shadows; they are some of my favorite subjects for photography. also my preferred method of self-portraiture. that way I don't have to brush my hair.
of course without the play of shadow and light there wouldn't be much of interest in many photographs, but there's something about the shadow being the subject of a photo that I really like.

Polish Town, U.S.A.
I haven't been sharing too many of my thrifted finds recently, so I thought I'd show some shots from my recent trip to Riverhead's Polish Town with my pals D & G. It was almost our friend Raynorshine's birthday and we wanted to scope out some potential gifts at the local Polish Town thrift store.
Several amazing books were found, including this Time Life guide to software.
Another find, which D just had to purchase for Raynorshine's bday present, was this very special New Kids on the Block book.
A disturbing new Care Bear movie with an odd mohawk-sporting Care Bear.
I had to keep this amazing mug for myself! Actually I was worried Raynorshine might not like it but now I'm having second thoughts... think I will give it to her.
We saw these amazing window displays on the way to the Euro Deli down the street. Magical and creepy at the same time!

rarrrrrrrr
anyone who knows me at all knows I love all animal and wildlife motifs in my clothing. luckily there are some special offerings this spring from some of my favorite designers and online shops.
The satiny dresses are by Jill Stuart and the floaty abstract-printed ones are by Edun. Love the woodsy feel with the Edun dresses and the bold animal prints on the Jill Stuarts are just amazing.
some special little trinkets from (gasp!) Urban Outfitters.
cat-printed t-shirt by Deyrolle Pour Opening Ceremony rain hat by Maison Michel for OC and my dream jellyfish dress by Emma Cook

rad.
Lately I've been inspired by the 80s skateboarding style and I've noticed it popping up on the runway here and there.
Christian Hosoi had an amazing style (and hair) in the 80s and originated some awesome trends, including wearing multiple watches at once, which has been spotted quite a lot on street style blogs lately. I personally love it!
